Valheim Console Commands and Cheats: Full List (2026)

How to open the Valheim console and turn on cheats with devcommands. God mode, flying, item spawning and every console command explained, with one-click copy.

Opening the console and turning on cheats

Opening the console on Steam

  1. Right-click Valheim in your Steam library and choose Properties.

PC Game Pass: Create a shortcut to Valheim.exe in the game's folder, add -console to the end of the shortcut's Target field and start the game from it. Xbox: In-game, hold LB + RB + MENU, then press A to bring up the keyboard.

FAQ

How do I open the console in Valheim?

Add -console to the game's Steam launch options, then press F5 in-game. See the steps above for Game Pass and Xbox.

I typed devcommands but cheats don't work. Why?

Cheat commands don't work on a dedicated server, only in single-player or a game you host. Also, typing devcommands a second time turns cheats off again.

Can cheats break my world?

Most commands are safe, but location and nextseed permanently disable saving, and skiptime, resetcharacter and forcedelete make changes that are hard to undo. Back up your world and character before using the commands marked with a warning on this page.

How do I write the item name when spawning?

Write it exactly as in the spawn list, e.g. spawn Wood 50 or spawn SwordIron 1. You can copy names from the list with one click.

Command names and syntax were compiled from Valheim Wiki (CC BY-SA); the explanations are ours. Commands can change when the game updates.
